    Cut the fish into desired pieces.

    You can either do this yourself or ask the fishmonger to do so.

    Wash the fish with lime or lemon juice and turmeric to remove the strong smell of fish.

    Transfer fish into a pan; (the fish cooked in clay pot gives an authentic flavor).

    Add sliced onion, garlic, curry leaves, green chilli, cumin powder or seeds, coriander powder, fenugreek, tomato or puree, water, coconut milk, and salt.

    Swirl the pan very gently.

    Cover and cook for five to six minutes.

    Finally add the tamarind juice.

    Do not use a spoon; just swirl the pan until the curry is done.

Serving Suggestions

  • - Use a spoon only when ready to serve.
  • - Add another half a cup of water if you require more gravy.
