QUICK FRIED STRING HOPPERS OR PUTTU WITH EGG

    Use left over home made string hoppers or puttu.

    Break up the string hoppers or puttu into a bowl.

  3. 3

    Sauté the onion, curry leaves and green chilli or capsicum until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Add the whisked egg and stir briskly as for scrambled egg.

  5. 5

    Add the string hoppers or puttu and mix well.

  6. 6

    (Fresh String Hoppers and Puttu can be purchased in Sri Lankan stores).

    Vegetarians; can avoid the eggs and fry with vegetables.

Cooking Options

  • - For an alternative, you can create a quick string hopper or puttu dish with fruit and nuts. Sauté onions, curry leaves, ¼ cup sultanas and ¼ cup cashew nuts for one minute. Mix the broken string hopper or puttu and mix as above recipe.
