    Wash the rice and set aside for ten minutes.

    Soak the saffron threads or saffron powder with water and set aside.

    Melt the ghee or butter in a heavy bottom pan.

    Add the sliced onions, spices and fry for a minute until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Remove the fried onions and set aside for garnishing.

  6. 6

    Fry the washed rice for one minute (optional).

    Add the water, stock, salt, star anise, ginger and garlic paste, coriander leaves, mint leaves, saffron threads and cook on slow fire for half an hour until the rice is cooked.

    Sprinkle the rice with rose essence (optional) and saffron mix.

    Fluff the rice with a fork or with handle of wooden spoon.

Cooking Options

  • - Quickest method is to transfer the rice into a rice cooker. It will take approximately twenty five to thirty minutes to cook. The rice may be cooked in the microwave rice boiler on high, for fifteen minutes.
